The great news is that you do not need the gym for losing weight. A lot of people have an anxiety of the gym especially when they are not familiar with the equipment. For some people, they  just  don’t  like other people looking at them when they are exercising.  Such was my worry until I found out that most people down the gym are too busy shedding their weights to pay anyone else any attention.

Try and find an exercise you like. You are much more likely to get it done and it would be easier to add that weight loss workout to your overall lifestyle. There are many kinds of fitness activities you can do. Riding a bicycle is a great way to workout providing you do it frequently. And a gentle bicycle through the park is not enough. You need to be biking  up and down slopes to actually get the benefit from this program.

Aerobics might go well with some people although be warned as it can be heavy going on your joints. Make sure you attend a class conducted by a qualified instructor and also request to begin with minimal impact exercises. Always get the right kit especially your gym shoes as you must protect your body. It is certainly not an excellent calorie burner however despite the fact that you may end up sweating a lot. You would use up more calories climbing the stairs a lot at home.

Swimming is a great exercise in case you are worried about your joints or have an injury which affects your ability to work out. You won’t get rid of a lot of calories except if you work extremely hard however it is perfect for your heart and lungs.

You could attempt combining swimming and aerobics i.e. aquarobics. The water provides an element of resistance. This will assist to firm up quicker but only if the instructor enables you to work harder. Gentle classes are not your goal presently!
